On the way home from the playground, Bella couldn't keep her eyes open....
The nursery so far - still a few more things to do...
The other side of the tiny, tiny nursery...
At the playground on the swing... her favorite thing in the whole world right now...
checking out other parts of the playground
Brave enough to do the tube slide today... she loved it!
Big Smiles!
Anthony and I were talking about some "Bella-isms" that we should document so that we don't forget them! She does some things that are distinctly "Bella" and they always crack us up....
Here is a handy translation list for her Bella-ese:
"gee-a" = used as needed as a "filler word"; anything noun she doesn't know the word for is a "gee-a"
"doo-doos" = indicates desire to watch Wiggles video
"ooh-ooh" = indicates a desire to listen to the Bruno Mars Song "Locked out of Heaven"
"nuk" = milk (She used to say and sign milk clearly, but somehow she has regressed and it has become "nuk")
"ginky" = binky... I'll try to break the habit at some point here...
"So" = Sophie, her friend at daycare
"ba ba ba" = indicates desire to hear "How I Met Your Mother" theme song
"Why" = indicates desire to watch "Super Why" on the WETA kids network
"E" "S" = indicates that she sees letters somewhere... apparently they are all E and S
"Five, Six, Seven"= Bella's version of counting
Although you might not be able to tell from the above examples, Bella is getting increasingly verbal. She definitely has some longer utterances now. Here are some things we've heard her say in the last week or so:
"wee wee wee home" = ...and this little piggy cried wee wee wee all the way home)
"no monkeys bed" = no more monkeys jumping on the bed
"'ere glasses daddy? 'ere go?" = where's your glasses, daddy? where'd they go? (glasses can be replaced by jacket, binky, book, shoes, sock...etc...)
"I dunno 'ere go" = Her response if you ask her where anything is....
"Mommy, sock, I want sock." = Again, sock can be replaced with almost any word...
"One more book" = a common request before bedtime.
"ready, set, go" = when she's getting ready to go somewhere fast...
"bye daddy, night night, c-ya" = how she says goodnight to daddy when he leaves her room
Some newer words that she has been saying: glasses, mail, pictures, pasta, yogurt, apple juice, hockey, medicine, swing, chicken, home, house,...
Other things Bella is doing....
Bella gives very exuberant "Hi Mommy!" and "Hi Daddy!" exclamations these days. We always feel so welcome every time we re-enter a room.
She points out every "school bus" "truck" and "swing" that she sees while we are driving.
When you walk in her room first thing in the morning, 9 times out of 10 the first thing she says is "eat!"
My girl can EAT. She tries everything you put in front of her and she eats ample amounts of food at mealtimes! Right now her favorite food is blueberries. I have to limit the amount I give her or she'd eat the whole container in one sitting.
She loves to jump on her toddler bed while singing "No more monkeys jumping on the bed" with us.
She can do several Wiggles dances, but her favorite is probably "Rock-a-bye Your Bear".
Bella is getting in her 2nd two-year molar. She's handling teething pretty well though.
Bella is pretty much wearing 24 month clothing. She has some things that are 18 months and some things that are 2T though - it all depends on the brand! She is wearing size 5 shoes mostly, but I think her tennis shoes are size 6 and they fit too.
She is still loving her toddler bed. She goes to bed around 7 or 7:15 and wakes up around 6:15.
Much to my surprise, she had no trouble adapting to a new daycare. We found a new daycare that is much closer to the house and it has openings for both kids next year! I am thrilled that Bella has taken to it so well!
I can only hope that Baby #2 is as easy going as Bella... :) I don't know how I'm going to revert back to the schedule of waking every few hours to feed. Today I am officially 36 weeks! Even though Bella was a c-section, we are planning on VBAC for this one so we have no idea when she plans on arriving. She is due June 5th. I am hoping that I don't have to work until the end of the school year (June 14th) and that the baby comes well before that... Anthony, however, says that he's "not ready to be a father yet." (Ha. Ha.)
